Solana (SOL) Values Tank Steeply As The Network Hit By Another Major Outage

Solana network has suffered another episode of outage and a single unconfigured node has thrown a spanner into the working and brought down the whole network. The network became offline and validators were unable to get on with the transactions. The Solana team is asking validators to perform a Solana Mainnet restart to remove the outage, requiring at least 80% stake to restart.

The outage has also affected the coin’s values, which fell by 6% in the past 24 hours.

With the latest October 1 outage, the network has already suffered four outages this year. The latest outage is almost one year after the network’s worst outage on September 14, when the platform was offline for more than 18 hours. In a tweet dated October 1, the Solana team informed the community that the Solana network is experiencing an outage and issues with processing transactions. Developers are working to diagnose and fix the problem.

Solana team followed this tweet with another tweet with instructions for Mainnet beta validators. They were asked to restart the Solana Mainnet-beta cluster. Validators have been instructed to search logs for the highest optimistically confirmed slot “153139220”.

Solana validator Laine detailed the outage in a series of tweets. The outage, according to Laine, was precipitated by a misconfigured node and resulted in an unrecoverable partition in the network. Validators faced problems with consensus as a validator was running the same.

“The Solana mainnet network will be restarted at slot 153139220, the last confirmed slot. It appears a misconfigured node caused an unrecoverable partition in the network. Validators, please participate in finding consensus on the relevant data.”

As per details obtained from Laine’s validator monitoring platform Stakewiz.com, developers have kicked off the restart process, which is 57 % accomplished but must reach 80% for the Solana network to become online.
